Sooo… Apparently Love is in the air..  well then now may be the time to invest a little and indulge in some secret gardening, trimming the hedge, clear up the weeds .. ok I guess you get the idea by now.

I’ll always remember while growing up the mere mention of waxing would send spine tingling shudders down my spine. Frankly, I couldn’t think of anything worse!  But to be honest, the first time I ever lay down and bared it all in the open to my therapist, my initial fear and embarrassment was very quickly forgotten when I experienced the almighty shock of hot wax being ripped off my most intimate parts! Looking back on it now I have to laugh.  Now I can’t imagine how I lived without it.

Well to be honest, I’m kind of exaggerating, it wasn’t THAT bad and she was still in training. Perhaps if its your first time you may be better off being waxed by a seasoned professional, because once you’ve experienced the full benefits of a silky smooth bikini line, the difference is clear. Razors and depilatory creams really can’t compare, not to speak of the damage shaving  (ingrowing hairs) and creams (discolouration to the skin) can cause to the delicate skin down there.

I would highly advise scheduling your appointments at least 5 days before or 5 days after your period to avoid ovesensitivity to the heat or to the pain.  For those who really do find the experience too much to bear, never fear, there are a variety of anaesthetic products readily available to ease the sting.  Relax and Wax No Scream Cream (£13.50) or Gigi Numbing Spray (£4.50) provide a temporary numbing effect to the localised areas.  But most importantly, try to relax, it really isn’t that bad. After all, in exchange for a short sharp tingle to the area you’ll receive approximately 4 weeks of beautiful grooming.  A simple bikini line waxing takes approximately 15 minutes from start to finish, while the more specialist treatments can take between 30 to 40 minutes.

Terms may vary around the world but the three general types of waxing can be described as:

The Bikini Wax
Hair is removed from just outside the panty line.

The Brazilian
Leaves a small vertical strip or triangle, just above the vaginal area.

The Hollywood
It’s all taken off. Everywhere… Everything… Bald… Nix.. Nada..Nothing.

(And for those who want a little something special the fourth level of waxing)

The Bollywood & Sacred Shapes

The Bollywood is basically a Brazilian wax as above but it’s followed by a henna pattern painted directly onto the skin (it’s sometimes also called “Vagazzeling”. If you want to really show off, there’s also the added option of having tiny iridescent gems or sparkling Swarovski crystals added to the design using a special adhesive that holds them in place for up to a few days.  I would seriously recommend that you DO NOT try this at home. The type of adhesive used has to be suitable for exposure to your most intimate parts.  This service is a specialist treatment.  For more info feel free to email us directly on info@mysacredbeauty.com

It’s your body and your bikini shape is as personal to you as your eyebrows. It’s 2011, nowadays you’re no longer confined to just taking a little bit off the sides.

Ever since “Sex and the City” aired a show that made reference to pubic grays, lightning bolts and dye jobs, a lot more boutique salons in the UK and US now offer the option of adding different colours and shapes around your nether region. Pink butterflies or red hearts are a fun way to celebrate valentines and other special occasions, but for those die hard romantics out there, what would expresses your love more than wearing your partner’s initials?  Welcome to the Sacred World of Waxing. It’s the last frontier of creative expressionism.  For more info you can again email me directly.

However, if you’re a bit shy about exposing your intimate bits to a stranger but would love to have some fun at home then the fruity scented “Glam Puss” is available from Anne Summers Stores, www.nokki.com or mail order from their head office 01525 862 284  at around £15. They offer two fun colours in bright pink and vibrant red which you can test within the confines of your own bathroom!  They have official quotes such as “This product is not tested on animals  “ So no Beavers or Pussies where harmed in the making of Glampuss fun colours“ You have got to love the fun aspect of this brand!

So, with products like these, who needs Cupid?

I’ve always wondered what the difference was, thanks for clearing that up! Not sure if i’m brave enough for the bollywood but i think next time I might try something a bit more daring. Maybe a nice shape. I’d love to actually see someone do a red heart (no homo). LOL
